Tornado season begins...

I had quite the scary experience a couple days ago when some nasty weather came through Shreveport. Most of it had been missing, but there were several tornadoes north and west of here. I was watching the news when the anchor said that the Shreveport fire department had spotted a funnel cloud near Burt Kouns and the Red River - just to the east of me! Of course I ran outside with my camera. Here's what I saw as soon as I got to the parking lot:

Any reasonable person would have run inside and taken shelter after seeing this spinning mass, but not me! I'm too afraid of tornadoes not to watch what's coming my way. And besides, this had already passed over me.

Wanting to see more, I went out to the street in front of my apartment complex. Here's what I saw:

I'm not sure whether the funnel ever actually touched down, but I'm *so* glad it had already passed me before it started looking like that. I took a video to show how it was spinning, but of course it's pixelated. Here it is nonetheless:

I'm not especially looking forward to the rest of tornado season after this show, even though I did get a couple pretty good photos.
