This is kinda fun. I (sort of) grew up Unitarian Universalist, more than anything else, anyway. I have family across the Protestant spectrum, and have lived in Hindu and Muslim areas. Spent some time in Catholic schools, also married into a Catholic family. Catholicism has yet to impact my beliefs, clearly (see bottom of the list). For the last few years I've been more of a wanderer...

What does your name mean and why did your parents choose it for you?
Submitted by mommy2two.
Carey. Means either dark (Irish) or pure (Greek).
Mainly my parents were looking for a stereotype-free name. The sort of name someone could see on paper without visualizing someone in particular. I remember hearing that the alternate choices were Benjamin (had I been a boy it wouldn't have been bad, I know some nice Benjamins, my brother-in-law in particular) and Hillary (I'm way too politically-involved, that name would have been hell for me).
All in all, I'm happy with the one I've got, even if no one ever spells it right.
It's scary that I'm actually a little proud of this result. Not perfect, but better than the Hummer-driving, packaging-hungry goons around me.

What was the last wedding you went to? Were you in the wedding?
This has been the year of weddings. I've been to 3 weddings in the last 6 months and had to skip 2 others. First was Sally (Frank's mom) and Pete in New Jersey. Then my cousin Danyel (my cousin) and Nicohl in Boca Raton. Then Dan (my cousin) and Melissa in Iowa. We missed Donna (Frank's cousin) and Adam in Albuquerque, and we're missing Lily (my high school buddy) and Stephen in Colorado tomorrow. I really hate missing these things but airplanes are icky expensive critters (yes, the ones we made it to were family-financed). And I swear if I tell my job I need more time off for a wedding, they'll think I'm making it up.
And no, I haven't been in any of these, which works fine for me, much easier to enjoy them that way.
We're barely halfway through the year, and so I fully expect a few more weddings before it's over. Nudge, nudge, you know who you are. Just please keep them within driving distance, or send plane tickets.
And Lily and Stephen, wish you all the best tomorrow and long after. Don't let your families drive you nuts, you are supposed to enjoy the thing yourselves!
What celebrity do you most often get told you resemble?

Winona Ryder. Not as bad as some, I guess.
Found this. I knew this guy at Eckerd! Very nice...
I just found something unpleasant. Not silly disgusting in the style of rotten.com. Bad disgusting. As in, why do people like this exist?
I stumbled onto it, knew it sounded familiar, should have stayed away. Now I'm upset. I really hate stuff like this. Makes me feel like Dementors got in my house.
The stinky thing:
